History of Alnwick
Alnwick is in the heart of Northumberland. It has some very scenic views like the long sandy beaches, its well preserved medieval Castles, and the gardens. If gardens are on your agenda when visiting, Alnwick Gardens cannot be missed. All these make Alnwick an ideal holiday location.
Alnwick is a medieval market town, and it originally prospered as an ideal staging post, being only a day's ride from Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north and Newcastle upon Tyne in the south. It still has many of its cobbled streets, narrow alleys and fine stone buildings. The town once had 50 Inns! many of these now are shop or small businesses. This historic town offers more than just a good day out, it's a great day out.
